These gadgets are essentially fake cameras - devices that are made to look and move like real surveillance cameras but do not work as such. But do they really do the job or are they placing homes and businesses at unnecessary risk? Here are certain situations when dummy cameras work best:

Cost is a major concern

The most common reason why people use these device is to save on cost. Real surveillance equipment can be quite costly, especially if they have advanced features. Surveillance cameras also require additional equipment such as recorders, transmitters and monitors. To cut on the expense, some business and home owners opt to use dummy cameras in place of genuine surveillance equipment.

There is a significantly low risk for security threats

Certain areas do not have the same high security risks. Some urban and rural areas, malls, gated communities and buildings with in-house securities are generally considered safe and may not require highly specialized surveillance equipment. If you live or work in one of these buildings or communities and generally do not have to worry about crime occurring in your neighborhood, a dummy camera will work best for you.
